Infection picture skin yeast 3 Diagnosis: Thrush / Candidiasis Body site: lip / tongue, mouth Gender: male Age: 5 years Description: edematous crusted fissured lips, eroded white plaque on tongue Comments: After a 10 day course of antibiotics for tonsilitis, this 5 year old boy developed oral thrush associated with red cracked fissured lips and crusted erosions at the corner of the mouth and on the chin. Infection picture skin yeast 4 Diagnosis: Paronychia, Chronic / Candidiasis / Nail dystrophy Body site: nail, hand Gender: female Age: 40 years Description: erythema and edema of the nail fold, loss of the cuticle with nail dystrophy and greenish discoloration of the nail plate around the lateral nail fold Comments: This 40-year-old woman with a history of reapeatedly submerging her hands in water developed tender erythema and swelling of the proximal nail fold of her right thumb. The loss of cuticle associated with greenish discoloration of the nail plate around the lateral nail folds is typical of infection from Candida which was cultured from the discharge. Infection picture skin yeast 6 Diagnosis: Paronychia, Chronic / Candidiasis Body site: finger / hand Gender: male Age: 4 years Description: red, edematous, scaly lateral and proximal nail folds on three fingers with nail distrophy Comments: A 4 year old finger sucker developed chronic occasionally painful swelling of three fingers associated with nail distrophy. Infection picture skin yeast 7 Infection picture skin yeast Diagnosis: Candidiasis Body site: back Gender: male Age: 5 years Description: diffused papules, pustules, and red scaly plaques Comments: A debilitated 5 year old boy developed a disseminated red papulopustular scaly eruption most prominent on his back. Infection picture skin yeast 8 Diagnosis: Embolus, Septic / Candidiasis Body site: back / neck Gender: female Age: 14 months Description: disseminated 3-5 mm red nonblanching papules Comments: Ten days after receiving high dose chemotherapy, a 14 month girl developed high fevers and purpuric papules on her trunk and extremities.
