Cure pregnancy yeast infections safely and the way nature intended. Before I continue with my list of natural pregnancy yeast infections treatments, allow me to say again that if you think you have a yeast infection (and this is the first time you're experiencing symptoms of a yeast infection in pregnancy), be sure to first see your doctor instead of self-treating with over-the-counter (OTC) antifungal medications. You don't want to be treating yourself with an OTC antifungal cream when you really don't have a yeast infection. Doing so could not only upset the existing balance in your vagina but also build up the resistance of the yeast organism to the antifungal medication. Not to mention the potential of ignoring signs of other possible complications such as gestational diabetes.
ALSO, as with any discomforts, infections, or illnesses during a pregnancy, be sure to consult your doctor BEFORE taking any forms of medication or yeast infection remedies!
With all that said, let's continue with my list of natural forms of pregnancy yeast infections remedies --
Tea tree oil
Tea tree oil is the essential oils derived from the Melaleuca alternifloria tree cultivated in Australia. It is supposed to have antiseptic and anti-bacterial properties. As with most essential oils, DO NOT apply undiluted oil directly on skin, especially tea tree oil. Always dilute it with something else (see below) or you can even use olive oil. Here're a couple of options for using tea tree oil as a pregnancy yeast infections remedy --
- Non-applicator type tampon
- Water-based personal lubricant
- Tea tree oil. I've found tea tree oils at various local health food stores. I've also find tea tree oil at reputable merchants on the web at some really decent prices. Or click here if you prefer an organic version.
Here's what you do --
- Coat the top half of the tampon with the lubricant
- Put a few drops of the tea tree oil
- Insert the tampon
- Be sure to remove the tampon in the morning
- "Make 'em yourself" capsule suppositories
Here's what you'll need --
-
- Size 00 empty gelatin capsules. Most pharmacies will have them. I prefer to purchase mine from the local health food store from their bulk foods section, or from a credible on-line merchant if I'm too lazy to trek out to the store.
- Tea tree oil. For organic tea tree oil, click here.
- Reusable antifungal cream (check out the Safeway Miconazole with Reusable applicator) applicator
- Water-based personal lubricant.
- Panty liner. I like to use Always as I find it works better at keeping the moisture away from my skin
Here's what you do --
- Fill one 00 size gel capsule with a few drops of tea tree oil. Once you filled the capsule, you'll have to move quickly as the moisture will start softening & melting the gel cap.
- Insert the filled capsule into the (antifungal cream) applicator, leaving the top 1/4 of the capsule peeping from the top of the applicator.
- Smear a tiny bit of the lubricant on the applicator. Make sure you also apply a bit of the lubricant on the tip of the top capsule.
- Lying down, insert the applicator and "inject" the capsule into your vagina (duh!) before you go to sleep.
With all of these tea tree oil pregnancy yeast infections treatments, you should repeat the treatment until all signs of the pregnancy yeast infections are gone.
Gentian violet
Gentian violet has been used for all sorts of antibacterial and antifungal applications. As a pregnancy yeast infections remedy, there are a couple of ways to do use it --
- Swab or paint the gentian violet on the vulva (including the labia or "lips" of the vagina) and into the vagina area. Dip a clean Q-Tip into the solution making sure it's wet but not dripping.
- Dampen a tampon with the gentian violet solution and insert.
Gentian violet is supposed to work with only a couple of applications. But some things you'll need to be aware of when using gentian violet as a pregnancy yeast infections home remedy --
- Gentian violet is a bright violet/purple color. It will stain your skin and your clothing! When you're using this yeast infection home remedy, be sure to wear a panty liner. To be extra cautious, you might also want to wear dark underwear (with a panty liner like Always) and clothing.
- Gentian violet will sting open wounds. I remember mom using this on my cuts as a child. Man, did it sting the bejeebers out of me when she swabs the stuff on! The lesson here is -- if you have any open sores from your pregnancy yeast infections, do not use gentian violet unless you are into pain!
- Some people are allergic to this stuff. If you're not sure if you are allergic to gentian violet as a pregnancy yeast infections treatment, I suggest applying a tiny bit to a test area first.
So where can you find this stuff? Gentian violet can be found in some pharmacies or natural health food stores. If you can't find it, here's a place you can get this yeast infection home remedy.
There you go ... that's my collection of remedies for pregnancy yeast infections. If you have a remedy that works for you and would like me to share it on this site, you can email me here.
