Description: erythematous red crusted patch
Comments: This young man developed a red scaly crusted patch on the dorsal shaft of the penis. A potassium hydroxide preparation from the coronal sulcus revealed budding yeast. The rash cleared with a topical antifungal cream.

Comments: This 32 year old man developed painful itchy red patches with scale and maceration on the dorsal shaft of the penis. The rash cleared with topical antifungal cream.

Description: well defined red macerated patch with scalloped scaly border and multiple flaccid vesicopustular lesions
Comments: This 8 year old girld developed a well defined, inflammed, macerated, pruritic patch involving her perianal skin. The eruptoin spreaded to the perineum and upper inner thighs. A collar of overhanging scales and multiple satellite flaccid vesiculopustual lesions were also noted.

Baby yeast infection pictures (infection photo yeast)

Diagnosis: Pyramidal Protrusion / Candidiasis / Dermatitis, diaper
Body site: perianal / diaper area, perineum / anus, genital
Gender: female
Age: 9 months
Description: smooth pyramid shaped pink nodule; 2 mm red crusted papules
Comments: A healthy 9 month old girl developed a smooth topped pyramid shaped nodule on the perineum after an episode of diarrhea. The lesoin resolved several months later without treatment. The red crusted papules in the anogenital area cleared after a week of topical antifungal therapy. Pyramidal protrusion of infancy should not be confused with anogenital warts or othe sexually transmitted diseases.

Description: symmetric red perineal papules worsened after a week of topical barrier paste. Potassium hydroxide microscopic prep revealed hyphae. Rash cleared with Nystatin cream.
Comments: This diaper dermatitis worsened over a week until treatment with topical mycostatin cream was started. A potassium hydroxide preparation revealed hyphae. The eruption cleared in 3 days.

Comments: After a 10 day course of antibiotics for tonsilitis, this 5 year old boy developed oral thrush associated with red cracked fissured lips and crusted erosions at the corner of the mouth and on the chin. Cutaneous and oral lesions cleared quickly when he was treated with oral fluconazole.

Description: erythema and edema of the nail fold, loss of the cuticle with nail dystrophy and greenish discoloration of the nail plate around the lateral nail fold
Comments: This 40-year-old woman with a history of reapeatedly submerging her hands in water developed tender erythema and swelling of the proximal nail fold of her right thumb. The loss of cuticle associated with greenish discoloration of the nail plate around the lateral nail folds is typical of infection from Candida which was cultured from the discharge.

Comments: This toddler was fond of sucking on this finger. She developed a chronic paronychia. Culture of scale from the nail grew Candida albicans.

Description: red, edematous, scaly lateral and proximal nail folds on three fingers with nail distrophy
Comments: A 4 year old finger sucker developed chronic occasionally painful swelling of three fingers associated with nail distrophy. Candida albicans was cultured from the proximal nail fold. He eventually stopped sucking on the fingers and the paronychia resolved eventually.

Comments: A debilitated 5 year old boy developed a disseminated red papulopustular scaly eruption most prominent on his back. The patches were pruritic and painful. A KOH preparation demonstrated pseudohyphae. The lesions cleared quickly with two doses of oral fluconazole.

Age: 14 months
Description: disseminated 3-5 mm red nonblanching papules
Comments: Ten days after receiving high dose chemotherapy, a 14 month girl developed high fevers and purpuric papules on her trunk and extremities. A skin biopsy demonstrated yeast in dermal blood vessels, and multiple blood cultures as well as a piece of the skin biopsy grew Candida.
